Recently found paperwork of payment made to Mayor & Brindle, Orchardists, Parkerville Western Australia for a consignment of Josephine Pears sold by TJ Poupart, Fruit, Flower & Vegetable Salesmen, Covent Garden Market. The shipment was transported on the SS Port Jackson from Fremantle WA arriving in London on 05 June 1954 and sold on 28 June 1954.
This may be of historical interest to your readers as after the EU formed my family business, as well as many other agricultural businesses, ceased trading with the UK from Australia. The above business of Mayor & Brindle commenced in 1914 when my grandfather and great uncle migrated from Lancashire. It ceased trading in 1990.
